1. Brookfield council votes to fill District 7 vacancy through 2030 (gmtoday.com) — Brookfield's Common Council has filled the District 7 alderperson vacancy by appointing David Poglitsch to serve through April 2030, rather than holding a special election. Some aldermen argued residents should choose their representative in April 2027, but the narrow 7-6 vote keeps the seat appointed for the full remaining term, shaping how District 7 is represented for years.

2. Brookfield North Shore Bank robbery, police seek suspect (fox6now.com) — Brookfield police are investigating a Thursday afternoon robbery at the North Shore Bank on Capitol Drive and are asking residents for tips, photos, or video. Officers say a man in a tan hoodie, jean jacket, black mask, and gloves fled in a black four-door sedan without plates. Anyone who spots a matching person or vehicle should stay away and call 911 or Brookfield police.

3. Chargers cruise past Lancers (gmtoday.com) — High school girls tennis fans in Brookfield saw busy action at Brookfield Central, where Hamilton, Brookfield Academy, and Waukesha West all picked up dual wins. The matches showcased several returning state-caliber athletes and competitive tiebreak finishes.

4. Wrongly detained motorists put Wisconsin's Flock surveillance deal back under scrutiny (thecooldown.com) — Brookfield officials are reexamining the city's use of Flock automated license plate reader cameras after outdated data led to a mistaken high‑risk traffic stop on I‑94 and two motorists being wrongly detained. Alderwoman Catherine Kahler says residents have raised concerns about surveillance and data retention, and the council will review proposed policy changes before the contract comes up for renewal in 2027.

- So what's the deal with the water here?
The tap water is absolutely disgusting, it smells and taste funny. I've tried a filter and that doesn't even really work. Why is the water so bad? (Nextdoor Norhardt)
