River Bend Nature Center

River Bend Nature Center welcomes the community to a free community weekend of outdoor experiences for the third consecutive year. The community is invited to enjoy a free sampling of various nature center activities on August 15th and 16th. Visitors can enjoy a nature hike guided by a naturalist, a chance to try out archery, dipping a beeswax candle, and/or a kayak or canoe paddle on the Root River, all at no cost.&nbsp;The self guided hiking trails, story trail, natural playscape and discovery trail are also available.&nbsp;&nbsp;The activities are at no cost, thanks to a sponsorship by Foxconn.&nbsp;Canoe/kayak on the Root River (9am – 5pm) Guided Nature Hikes (9am – 2pm)

On the Saturday after Labor Day, we do a fall festival known as Erv-toberfest in a large tent outside. Attendees get a full German-inspired buffet, passed Appetizers. unlimited beer sampling for four hours, and Live Music by “Double Bourbon Quick” all for just $50.

Of course, our buffet features regular offerings like cheese and sausage, fresh baked pretzel bites and fresh fruit.&nbsp;But it also includes homemade Spätzle with sauerbraten gravy, German meatballs with gingersnap gravy, Schweinebraten (German pork roast) with Dunklebock gravy,&nbsp;warm German potato salad, sauerkraut, red cabbage salad,&nbsp;cheesecake with cherries &amp; brownies with German Chocolate frosting.
