📰 News we're reading

• Hospital project can give insight into Lafayette Co. manor projections (themonroetimes.com) — Darlington residents get an early look at how financing for the Lafayette Hospital + Clinics Darlington project may foreshadow tax impacts from the proposed Lafayette Manor nursing home. The article breaks down federal grants, USDA bonds, and Compeer Bank loans now being repaid. It also compares those multimillion‑dollar payments to the county tax levy and rising property values.

• Cuba City murder-suicide victim was Darlington grad (themonroetimes.com) — A woman and man are dead after a shooting near a rural Cuba City residence, in a case tied to an earlier domestic incident in Darlington. Authorities say the man had been charged in August with stalking and domestic abuse after an incident in Darlington and was free on bond.
