Finalists Announced for the Eau Claire Chamber's 2026 Bravo to Business Awards (eauclairechamber.org) — Eau Claire’s business community is gearing up for the 2026 Bravo to Business Awards, with local companies named as finalists across five categories and a ceremony set for Nov. 5 at Florian Gardens. Residents can celebrate standout employers, small businesses, and emerging ventures that are strengthening the local economy and community, and are invited to register to attend the event.
   

2. Micon Cinemas to sell Downtown Cinema location (weau.com) — Eau Claire moviegoers are losing a familiar spot as Micon Cinemas moves to sell its Downtown Cinema location after smoke damage and persistent parking issues. While the sale marks the end of a beloved venue, the company says it remains committed to offering strong moviegoing experiences at its other theaters for local residents.
   

3. PAGE TURNERS: Women Leading The Chippewa Valley Book Festival (volumeone.org) — Eau Claire readers can look forward to the Chippewa Valley Book Festival, running Oct. 19-24 with free events at L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library on Eau Claire Street and other local venues. Women organizers from Eau Claire and the region share how they curate authors, genres, and community-focused programs that invite residents of all ages to reconnect with reading and conversation.
   

4. Village of Lake Hallie hires outside help after budget delays (weau.com) — Lake Hallie officials just hired a specialized accounting firm to untangle major bookkeeping problems that have stalled the village’s audit and 2027 budget planning, a concern for residents just north of Eau Claire. Leaders say about $5 million in transactions were misapplied in the books, but stress that all money is accounted for and the village is not in a financial crisis as they work toward an October reconciliation.
   

5. Rochester pays $140K to Wisconsin woman falsely accused of crime (postbulletin.com) — An Eau Claire woman has received a $140,000 settlement from the City of Rochester after she was wrongly tied to a counterfeiting case and briefly arrested on an out-of-state warrant. While Rochester admits no liability, the agreement closes her federal lawsuit and her attorney hopes it prompts more careful police identification practices that could protect other Eau Claire residents traveling regionally.
