Fond du Lac County considers closing inpatient mental health facility (wmtv15news.com) — Fond du Lac County officials are weighing whether to close the county’s inpatient mental health unit, a move residents and staff warned could cut vital local care. Rising costs and underused beds are driving the discussion, though leaders say savings would come slowly and crisis services would continue. The human services board will decide Monday whether to recommend closure to the full county board.

New senior housing project taking shape at former UWO Fond du Lac campus (nbc26.com) — A major senior housing complex with about 90 units is rising on the former UW Oshkosh Fond du Lac campus, with the first buildings expected to open by late October or November. County Executive Sam Kaufman says the project targets a pressing local need for senior housing, with applications likely opening within weeks and rents projected around $1,500–$1,800 a month.

4. Tractor fires destroy equipment in Sheboygan, Fond du Lac counties (fdlreporter.com) — Fond du Lac County deputies and Lomira firefighters responded May 27 when a tractor working atop a haylage bunker at Clover Hill Dairy in Ashford caught fire and was destroyed, though no one was hurt. Another unrelated tractor fire days later in Sheboygan County also totaled a vehicle and briefly closed Highway 67. Officials say neither blaze appears suspicious.
