Nicolet High School's 2011- 2012 theatre season will open with a production of Larry Shue's THE NERD. This hilarious comedy was originally produced by the Milwaukee Repertory Company in 1981 and billed as “one of the funniest plays every written.”
Set in 1981, the story features likable characters such as the docile Willum Cubbert, an aspiring young architect who has often told his friends about the debt he owes to a Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. Willum is delighted when Rick, a complete stranger, shows upunexpectedly at on the night of a dinner party.His delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a bumbling oaf lacking social graces, exhibiting little intelligence, and showing even less tact. The audience will enjoy one uproarious incident after another.
