Director Neil Jordan and actor Colin Farrell honor their Irish heritage with this week's Movie Fest film, "Ondine". It combines the Irish myth of the selkie, a mermaid-like creature that can become human, with real human drama. Syracuse is a fisherman trying to get back on his feet when he hauls up a beautiful woman in his trawling nets. His daughter is convinced that she is a selkie and it seems this might all really be a fairy tale until reality sets in once again. A gentle tale told with a beautiful musical backdrop. This free movie will be shown in the Community Room of the North Shore Library.
