Nicolet High School presents To Kill a Mockingbird
Fall play to feature Nicolet High School Theater students

Nicolet High School will present To Kill a Mockingbird November 12-15 at the Nicolet High School Auditorium, 6701 N Jean Nicolet Rd., Glendale.
“Following the success of Hairspray last season, Nicolet Theatre is proud to kick off the 2015-16 Main Stage Season with this literary masterpiece,” said Laura Anderle, Nicolet Theatre Director. “The dramatization of the touching classic tale will be brought to life on stage by our dedicated and talented students, and should be experienced by all!”
The play, based on the book by Harper Lee and dramatized by Christopher Sergel, follows Scout, a young girl in a quiet southern town, who is about to experience dramatic events that will affect the rest of her life. Set in 1935, the play illustrates the social issues of the time period as the black people of the community struggle with equality.

Atticus, Scout’s father and a lawyer, explains that he is defending a young negro who has been wrongfully accused of a grave crime. Since this is causing such an upset in the town, Scout wants to know why Atticus would take on such a hopeless fight; he replies, “Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason not to try.”
