Nicolet Recreation Department Offers Powers of Attorney Guardianship Course

Legal & Financial Planning for Incapacity, Dementia, & Caregiving

Ideal for those planning for themselves and those assisting loved ones.

Upon incapacity, someone must be appointed to make financial and health care decisions for the incapacitated person, whether through Powers of Attorney (POAs) or a court-appointed guardianship process. These are difficult circumstances, and making an informed decision in choosing a POA for yourself (and avoiding guardianship) is critical.

Just as critical is understanding the responsibilities you may hold as a POA or guardian in making decisions on behalf of an incapacitated loved one. We will discuss the financial and legal aspects of what acting as a guardian or POA actually entails, and how caregiving and dementia can play particularly significant roles in proper planning. This class will also serve as a resource to help you plan for long term care needs and costs.
