State Says Wisconsin Connections Academy 'Exceeds Expectations'

Virtual school received a rating of "exceeds expectations" on Wisconsin school report card; considered a 4-star school

Appleton, Wis. (March 15, 2017) – Wisconsin Connections Academy (WCA), the state’s first full-time, tuition-free virtual public charter school for all Wisconsin K-12 students, has received an “exceeds expectations” rating from the Department of Public Instruction for the 2015-16 school year. The school was also recognized with the highest school student achievement score of all virtual schools in the state. Much of the school’s success is due to the overwhelming parent satisfaction and graduation success it achieved in recent years.

“We take pride in knowing that our school was ranked among the highest of virtual schools in the state,” Michelle Mueller, principal of WCA, said. “Parents choose WCA for a multitude of reasons, and they can rest assured knowing their student will learn at their own pace from an institution that is considered one of the best in the state.”

The school met or exceeded state performance expectations in English language arts, math, science and social studies averaged across all grades tested on the Wisconsin Forward exam. Additionally, the school’s college acceptances include several state and private colleges across Wisconsin. According to the school’s annual parent satisfaction survey, 97 percent of WCA parents agree the curriculum is high quality, and overwhelmingly parents say they would recommend the school to other families.

“My daughter is able to complete schoolwork at her own pace and has never been happier. The helpful teachers, supportive staff, easy-to-understand lesson plans, up-to-date curriculum and LiveLesson sessions make WCA a perfect fit for our family and ever-changing schedule. I would tell any parent who is considering this program to give it a try because we did and it was one of the best decisions that we have ever made,” said Melissa Gruber, WCA parent.
