Drug Overdose At Motel + Possible Phone Scam: Franklin PD

Also: Someone reported damage to their lawn after a car drove through it.

FRANKLIN, WI β€” A Franklin resident became the victim of a scam on Nov. 4 when they received a call from someone posing as a utility company and a person was found dead in a suspected drug overdose at El Rancho Motel on Nov. 6.

Woman Injured In Shots Fired Incident At Root River Center

The Franklin Police Department said multiple gunshots were fired at the Root River Center parking lot on Nov. 5. A woman in a nearby car was injured in the event. Gunshots struck her car's windshield and she suffered lacerations.

Suspected Overdose Death And Arrest

Franklin police logs said a person was found dead in a room at the El Rancho Motel on Nov. 6. Logs said the death was suspected to be from a drug overdose. Another person who was in the company of the overdose victim was taken into custody in connection with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Scam Posing As Spectrum

A Franklin resident of 7300 Lovers Lane informed police on Nov. 4 someone was calling them claiming to be from the utility company Spectrum offering a lower rate for services. Logs said the person handed over their social security number and credit card information but charge attempts on the card were halted by the credit card company.

Resident Says Someone Drove Through Their Lawn

A resident on 2900 Franklin Terrace reported to police that someone had driven through their lawn the morning of Nov. 4. The caller said the driver left tire marks and ruts on the lawn, logs said.

Redbox Machine Damaged At Grocery Store

Police logs said a Redbox machine at 7201 South 27th Street was damaged to a degree of almost $750.
