You are invited to a major immigration event entitled “Immigration MKE: What You Need to Know Right Now” on Thursday, April 16 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. The event is free and will be held at the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay at 819 E. Silver Spring Drive in Whitefish Bay.
Speakers will include leaders from Milwaukee Turners, Forward Latino and Voces de la Frontera, local elected representatives and the Milwaukee Police Department. The program will run from 6-7:30 pm. There will be refreshments and a local Latino deejay from 5:30-6 pm and a reception after the program with dessert and opportunities to get involved
This is a pivotal time for Milwaukee. Milwaukee is scheduled for a major ICE action this year. Their detention facility on the northwest side of Milwaukee is completed. The city and county are considering ways to limit ICE activity. Our speakers are leaders in the immigration movement in Milwaukee and will discuss what we should expect and how we can prepare for when ICE arrives.
