• Proposed $628.7 Million Wisconsin Corrections Plan Sets Scope for Facilities Work (correctionalnews.com) — A new $628.7 million state corrections proposal would keep Green Bay Correctional Institution operating until at least 2031, then fund its closure, staff retention, and eventual property sale. The plan, presented in Allouez by Rep. Benjamin Franklin after negotiations with state leaders, also pours hundreds of millions into rebuilding or expanding other Wisconsin prisons while adding about 530 beds statewide.
   

• Greater Green Bay Labor Council marks 40th Labor Day picnic at Bay Beach (wearegreenbay.com) — Families from Green Bay gathered at Bay Beach Amusement Park for the Greater Green Bay Labor Council's 40th annual Labor Day picnic, celebrating local workers and the city's blue-collar roots. The event mixed rides and food with fundraising for area food pantries and shelters, while city leaders highlighted how generations of labor helped build Green Bay's middle class.
