1. Main Street bridge in Green Bay to close again, from Oct. 12-30 (greenbaypressgazette.com) — Drivers in Green Bay should prepare for the Main Street bridge to be completely closed to vehicles and pedestrians from October 12–30, with detours routed via Broadway, Walnut Street, and Monroe Avenue. The extended closure follows construction delays and technical challenges on the 1990s-era bridge, which carries about 13,000 vehicles daily and has already seen multiple schedule changes this year.
2. Green Bay unanimously appoints Stacy Menke as city clerk (fox11online.com) — Green Bay's council has unanimously appointed Stacy Menke as the city's full-time clerk after she successfully ran the August primary in an interim role. Following past issues with duplicate absentee ballots, Menke is now implementing updated procedures to prevent repeat problems and restore confidence in how local elections are administered for city voters.
3. Brown County urges flu shots as activity starts early (wearegreenbay.com) — Brown County health leaders in Green Bay are urging residents to get their flu shots as this year's influenza activity starts earlier than usual. Officials say vaccination can lessen severe illness, keep people in work and school, and support the local economy, with a mass flu clinic planned October 17 and more locations to follow across the county.
4. Aspiro expands disability services to Marinette to remove transportation barrier (wbay.com) — A Green Bay nonprofit, Aspiro, is expanding its disability services north to Marinette after seeing many Marinette-area residents travel to Green Bay for help. The new Building Full Lives program at Marinette's community rec center teaches job, communication, and budgeting skills, while Green Bay participants say the organization's support has boosted their confidence and independence.
5. SEASON PREVIEW: Green Bay women's basketball to tip off 2026-27 season (wearegreenbay.com) — UW-Green Bay's women's basketball team is gearing up for a new season, starting with an Oct. 17 home exhibition at the Kress Event Center. With nine returners, seven newcomers, and a tough non-conference slate including Duke and Wisconsin, coaches say the Phoenix are built for another NCAA Tournament push that Green Bay fans can watch unfold on their home court.
