Green Bay Packers' Starting Running Back Charged With Misdemeanor Battery

BROWN COUNTY, WI — Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was formally charged Thursday with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property, according to Wisconsin court records.

The charges come more than three months after Jacobs was arrested following a domestic incident at his home near Green Bay.

Brown County District Attorney David Lasee said his office conducted a thorough review of the evidence, some of which only recently became available due to ongoing forensic work by law enforcement, ESPN reported.

Jacobs is scheduled for an initial court appearance on Nov. 17.

Jacobs was arrested May 26 by the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department after officers responded to a May 23 domestic incident at his residence.

He originally faced five counts, including a felony strangulation and suffocation charge, though only the two misdemeanors were formally filed this week.

The NFL said it continues to monitor the case as part of its own investigation, which could lead to a suspension before or after the legal process concludes.

Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst has said the team could keep an extra running back on the roster if Jacobs' status remains uncertain heading into the season opener at Minnesota on Sept. 13.
