Green Bay council taps 8PINE to build Shipyard District park, adds $750,000 match (wtaq.com) — Green Bay's riverfront Shipyard District is moving ahead after the Common Council chose 8PINE to build a new park and added a $750,000 grant match to close the funding gap. The multi-phase plan promises a playground, dog park, splash pad, and event lawn, while the city continues a separate lawsuit over stalled apartment development in the same area.
   

2. Green Bay city council approves $1.5M gift to help pay off Bay Beach Amusement Park debt (wbay.com) — Green Bay's Bay Beach Amusement Park is on track to become debt-free years ahead of schedule, thanks to a $1.5 million donation and park funds. With the shoreline bond nearly paid off, city leaders plan to reinvest ride revenues into upgrades, including fixing the miniature train so it can reopen for the 2027 season.
   

3. Emergency crews stage runway crash drill at Green Bay Austin Straubel Airport (wtaq.com) — Emergency crews at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport just ran a full-scale runway crash drill to sharpen their response to a potential aircraft accident. With 75 volunteers, simulated smoke, and triage practice, local responders tested coordination and will now review what worked and what needs improvement, all without disrupting regular flights.
   

4. Corvettes of the Bay bring cars and supplies to local veterans (wearegreenbay.com) — Veterans at Veterans Manor on Green Bay's northeast side got a boost when Corvettes of the Bay rolled in with classic cars and carloads of donated toiletries and cleaning supplies. The visit, organized by veteran club members, offered residents much‑needed essentials plus a rare social gathering to admire the Corvettes and spend time together.
   

5. Aspiro completes renovation to serve clients with disabilities (wbay.com) — Aspiro's Dousman Street campus in Green Bay just finished a major renovation, adding classrooms, a teaching kitchen, gym, weight room, music room, and art therapy space for clients with disabilities. Serving more than 1,600 people, the nonprofit aims to expand job coaching, employment services, and in‑home therapies so children and adults with disabilities stay engaged, supported, and less isolated.

  • We usually end up going to the beach at Bay Beach Campground, but yesterday I had an appointment in two Rivers and there's a really long stretch of nice Sandy Beach without rocks there!
    They have a concession stand and sidewalks and good parking and you don't have to do a lot to get from your car to the beach in most of the parking… (Nextdoor West Corridor)
