GCT's Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
The Greendale Community Theatre's production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels offers up fast-moving comedy.
Based on the 1988 comedy hit starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine, the Greendale Community Theatre's production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels transforms the film into a fast-moving and equally hilarious musical comedy.
Performances began Thursday night at Greendale High School's auditorium and will continue tonight, Sat., July 23, at 7:30 p.m. as well as July 27-30, with a matinee showing at 2 p.m. on July 30.
Complete with an orchestra and well-crafted set, actors Michael Traynor and Ryan Stajmiger play the starring roles of Lawrence and Freddy, two conmen who form an unlikely partnership and compete to swindle rich women in a small town on the French Mediterranean coast. Lead actress Laura McDonald plays the role of Christine, a seemingly unsuspecting victim who provides a twist to the two conmen's fate.

Directed by Brian Bzdawka with music director Tom Reifenberg and choreographer Stephanie Staszak, the production features a wealth of talent in acting, singing, and dancing, and with a few well-placed comedic asides and local references, the musical engages the audience in a way the film simply can't.
