Wisconsin Schools Are Among the Best in U.S.: New Study

Wisconsin schools were ranked the second-safest in the U.S. and were tied with the highest median ACT scores in the country.

METRO MILWAUKEE, WI — One new study is confirming what we hear parents and legislators say all the time: While not perfect, Wisconsin public school systems as a whole are top-5 in the U.S.

Personal finance website WalletHub used 21 metrics to measure quality and safety, both of which the Badger State finished in the top five overall ranking based on a variety of factors.

For example, Wisconsin schools were ranked the second-safest in the U.S. and were tied with the highest median ACT scores in the country.

The rankings were dominated by Massachusetts, who garnered the highest math test scores and reading test scores. They also tied for first with Connecticut for the highest median ACT scores.

According to the study, the results are mixed when it comes to the state's school quality rankings when compared with school spending. However, when you look at the interactive graphic below, you can see that the state's a middling spender on education, yet produces a top-5 ranking.

The study also determined Massachusetts maintains the lowest percentage of high school students who are threatened and/or injured. The state is sixth in bullying incidence rates.
