Sumner Street in Hartford for raising fuel prices more than once within 24 hours, which violates Wisconsin law. No further action is planned, but residents who suspect gas price issues anywhere in the area can still file complaints with the state agriculture and consumer protection agency.

2. The 2025-26 College Athletes of the Year: Volleyball (siouxfallslive.com) — Hartford native Sylvie Zgonc has been named Summit League Volleyball Player of the Year for the second straight season after a dominant year at South Dakota State. The outside hitter led the league in kills and points while helping her team to a 23-5 record and an NCAA tournament berth, bringing national recognition back to her hometown.

Distinguished Junior Member Finalists Announced at National Holstein Convention (hoards.com) — Hartford’s own Elizabeth Gunst has been named a Distinguished Junior Member finalist by Holstein Association USA, one of the top honors for young dairy enthusiasts. She joins five other finalists from around the country recognized for leadership, Holstein projects, and community involvement, with winners announced at the National Holstein Convention in Florida.

CSO Kim Italiano retiring on July 7 (gazettextra.com) — Hartford readers may recognize Community Service Officer Kim Italiano, who previously served with the Hartford Police Department before finishing her career in Watertown. She’s retiring July 7 after decades in law enforcement, known for her mental health, suicide-prevention and scam-awareness presentations, which she plans to continue offering even in retirement.
