
St. Croix County residents are encouraged to dispose of household hazardous chemicals and unwanted appliances at September recycling events.
The County is hosting a Clean Sweep household hazardous waste collection for residents on Friday, Sept. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to noon at the St. Croix County Highway Shop, 666 Hwy 12 E in Hudson.
Materials, which are hazardous if improperly handled or disposed of, will be collected including: pesticides, herbicides, solvents, poisons, oil- and lead-based paints and a host of other common but potentially dangerous items. Most household hazardous waste will be accepted free of charge. Latex paint, motor oil, medications, automotive batteries and electronics will not be accepted.

Businesses and farmers are invited to set up an appointment to bring their materials for collection on Friday, Sept. 14, but must pre-register.

Small businesses are encouraged to participate, but will be charged. Farmers can bring up to 500 pounds of waste for free. To pre-register, contact the County Recycling Specialist at 715-386-4675 for information and appointment scheduling.
The county will host two appliance collections on Saturday, Sept. 15 that are open to all county residents. The events will take place at the Town of Richmond Recycling Center located on County Rd A on the north edge of Boardman from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the Glenwood City Recycling Center adjacent to the fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Prices are $8 for most appliances including, but not limited to: air conditioners, clothes washers, clothes dryers, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, freezers, grills, humidifiers, microwaves, electric/gas ranges, electric/gas stoves, refrigerators, trash compactors, vacuum cleaners and water heaters.
Please contact the Recycling Program at 715-386-4675 for a quote on gas refrigerators or commercial units. Cash and check are accepted forms of payment.
