Erika Guenther Leads Hudson Swimmers To Invitational Title

Hudson freshman sets one pool record and helps relay team to another as Hudson girls finish first in the Simley Swimming and Diving Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Hudson freshman Erika Guenther set one pool record on her own, helped a relay team set another and finished first in four events to highlight a Hudson team win in the seven-team Simley Swimming and Diving Invitational Saturday at Inver Grove Heights, MN.

Guenther set a pool record and finished first in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:46.23. She also won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.62.

The team of Devin Cicha, Megan Haney, Guenther and Catie Weese set a new pool record of 4:21.53 in the 400-yard medley.

Hudson won the meet with 602 points, followed by Orono (532), River Falls (473), Simley (403), Chippewa Falls (396), Chisago Lakes (390) and St. Paul Central (358).

Hudson’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Guenther, Weese, Natalie Wood and Cicha finished first in 3:51.13.

Hudson senior Amanda Baker led the diving from start to finish and won the event with a score of 375.65.

Weese took first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.43) and Cicha was first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:16.53),

Trisha Wood was second in the 200-yard IM (2:30.08), Cicha was second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:14.91), Natalie Wood was second in the 1,650-yard freestyle (19:45.01) and second in the 200-tard breaststroke (2:43.96), Megan Haney was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.02).
