Hudson Fire Crews Respond to Smoke at Preschool
An air handling unit malfunction led to the evacuation of Bear Buddies Child Development Center on Monday afternoon.

At about 12:30 p.m. a crew from the Hudson Fire Department responded to a call of smoke at a building in the St. Croix Business Park that houses and .
All the children in the preschool were evacuated to the outdoor play area while fire crews investigate the source of the smoke. No flames were visible and no one was injured.
Jaysen Jones, owner of Kaladi's 2.0, confirmed that the metal building has a firewall between the restaurant and the preschool. There was no smoke in the restaurant, and it was not evacuated.

After investigating, Hudson Fire Chief Jim Frye said there was a problem with the air handling equipment. A crew shut off the malfunctioning unit and ventilated the building.
