Hudson Girls Soccer Team Blanks Rice Lake, 3-0

The Raiders outshot the Warriors 42-4 for their fifth shutout victory this season.

The girls soccer team used unrelenting offense and defeated Rice Lake, 3-0, on Tuesday, May 17, in a conference matchup at Hudson Middle School.

The Raiders put up 42 shots to the Warriors' four and the team put up its fifth shutout victory of the season.

Head Coach, John Knutson said, "This was a good win for us.  In our first game with Rice Lake on their home field we outshot them but couldn't score and went home after playing the 80 minute game in regulation followed by two 10-minute overtime periods ending with a 0-0 tie. Outshooting an opponent 42 to four is impressive and getting another shut out is also good for the team."

Senior goalkeeper Tessa Bakken and center defender Logan Knobel led the defensive effort for the Raiders. Junior defender Molli Bichrt and sophomores Nicole Mara and Alyssa Muller also played key roles in maintaining the shutout.

Assistant Coach Megan Knutson said, "We're starting to get our offensive production going led by Paige Ommen who agained played well by dominating the midfield and had two goals for us again tonight. I was also impressed by the play of Logan Knobel in back on defense who makes several key safe plays every game and with Nadja Mataya up at forward who has been earning more sting time with her positive play and efforts."

Midfielder Haley Bouzard netted the Raiders' third score with a shot from the back side of the goal.
