Hudson Wrestling Team Headed to State After 36-33 Sectional Win Over Wausau West

The wrestling team beat Wausau West 36-33 in dramatic fashion in a team sectional meet held at Chippewa Falls High School on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011.

Going into the final match down 33-30, Derek Schindler delivered six points with a pin 3:40 into the match. The win secures a berth in the WIAA state wrestling team meet in Madison. The Raiders will face Holmen in the state quarterfinals at 7 p.m. on March 4 at the University of Wisconsin Fieldhouse.

Zach Lohman, Nick Nelson, Gordon Johnson, C.J. Steiner, Austin Koski, Tanner Owens, Kolya Hawksford, Ryan Smith, Nick Larson, Dima Hawksford, Derek Schindler and Alex Waldon all will compete in an individual sectional meet in Marshfield on Saturday, Feb. 19. The top two wrestlers at each weight will advance to the WIAA individual state wrestling meet at the Kohl Center in Madison Feb. 24-26.
