Larson Narrowly Loses WIAA State Wrestling Semifinal, Sets Sights on Third Place

Hudson senior Nick Larson lost a 3-2 decision in the state wrestling semifinals on Friday night. He must now work on the back side of the bracket to earn third place. He can do no worse than sixth place.

 senior Nick Larson (152 lbs.) lost a 3-2 decision in WIAA individual state wrestling semifinals in Madison on Friday, Feb. 25.

Larson was edged by Zak Benitz of Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln who advanced to the finals to face undefeated junior Matthew Gray of Wilmot Union.

Larson now moves to the back side of the bracket and must focus get two more wins to earn third place. He can do no worse than sixth place.

Next up for Larson is a Saturday morning matchup versus Sheboygan South junior Branden Capetillo, who has only two losses on the season. Larson is 45-4 this season.

Making up the other half of the back side of the bracket are Logan Keding of D.C. Everest and DeForest junior Bryar Harper. If Larson wins Saturday morning, he'll take on the winner for third place. If he loses on Saturday morning, he'll take on the loser for fifth place.
