PHOTOS: About 100 Run in "For Pete's Sake" 5K

Family and friends of Pete Huseboe hosted the fifth annual "For Pete's Sake" 5K Run/Walk at the Hudson Sports & Civic Center on a cold Saturday morning.

Family and friends of Pete Huseboe hosted the fifth annual "For Pete's Sake" 5K Run/Walk at the on a cold mid-September Saturday morning. About 100 runners and walkers participated in the event.

First place overall went to Jeff Burkart of Hudson, who finished in 16:51. The first female finisher, and second place overall, was Melissa Burkart of Hudson, who finished in 18:22.

According to the by a family member, Huseboe "was long-time member of the Hudson community, and father of five Hudson Hockey players. He died unexpectedly in 2007 after complications from surgery for a rare brain tumor, and this race commemorates his love for family activities and being outdoors." Saturday would have been Huseboe's 54th birthday.

The event was sponsored by , , and Keller-Williams Reality: Ferguson/Howard Group. Proceeds from the race will be donated to the Lautenbach family, which was participating in the  at the same time as the "For Pete's Sake" 5K.
