PHOTOS: Hudson Firefighters Battle Training Blaze on Front Street
An empty Front Street home owned by the City of Hudson was set ablaze on Monday for a Hudson Fire Department training session.
An empty house at 501 Front St. was set ablaze on Monday for a training exercise.
The house, which was owned by the , has been used for several search-and-rescue training exercises over the past year, and was used Monday in an "evolution of offensive attack demonstrating the stages of fire growth, thermal layer and suppression," according to Miranda Kustrich of the Hudson Fire Department.
Because of the size and location of the structure, only one evolution was performed on Monday.

"With all training burns our drivers and drivers in training get to practice pumping, and officers share the roll of incident commander as well as allowing firefighters to practice general firefighting techniques," Kustrich said. "This home had some uniqueness to it given the location of the homes around it and the heavy tree coverage."
In all, 29 fire fighters and three explorers participated in the training.
