VIDEO & PHOTOS: Hudson Fire Crews Put Out Duplex Fire at Fourth & Division

A couple walking their dogs with their young daughter called in the blaze at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. They said they saw smoke and heard alarms going off in the duplex.

UPDATE (8:16 p.m., Aug. 4, 2012): Hudson Fire Chief Jim Frye said the fire was contained to the kitchen area of the lower level of the duplex, which sustained heavy smoke damage and some heat damage. Very little water was used while fighting the fire, but there may also be some water damage.

Daniel Hamm owns the building and occupies the lower unit, but he was traveling out of town during the blaze. He has been notified about the fire at his home, according to Frye.

Frye said he wasn't able to determine the exact cause of the fire, but he did say the area of origin was in the kitchen.

The upper unit of the duplex also sustained minimal smoke damage, according to the chief. The upper unit occupant did return to the home while emergency workers were on scene.

A volunteer from Tara's Totes is attempting to contact those affected to offer support.
