Police Blotter: Meth in Squad Car, Man Swallows Marijuana, Drive-by Eggings

Selected calls to the Hudson Police Department for May 18-23.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports:

May 18, 2012

  • A 40-year-old woman removed a plug from a cooler at and put it in her pocket. When confronted, the woman said she needed a new plug for her cooler and didn't know where to find them in the store, so she put it in her pocket to remind her to ask about it when she found an associate. The store got the plug back.

May 19, 2012

  • Someone broke into a garage in the 1800 block of Aspen Drive, caused $50 worth of property damage and stole four fishing poles worth a total of $160.
  • A 1992 Honda Accord parked in the 1600 block of Ward Avenue was reported stolen. The car was valued at about $500.

May 20, 2012

  • A about 2:30 a.m., two political signs were stolen from the front yard of a residence in the 800 block of Second Street. The homeowner indicated that he had video surveillance footage of the incident.
  • A traffic complaint was filed about a driver who passed unsafely, nearly hit pedestrians in a crosswalk and drove well above the speed limit on Industrial Street and in the parking lot at around 8:20 a.m. The complainant gave the license plate information to police and the report indicates that they will follow up.
  • A 49-year-old New Richmond woman reported that her Samsung Galaxy S smartphone valued at $500 was stolen between 10 p.m. and midnight the night before while she was at .
  • Police were called to St. Croix Marina for a disturbance at a wedding party after a small child had thrown sand at another child that was part of the party. The univited guests were asked to leave.
  • Between 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., the driver's side window of a 1996 Chevy Camaro was smashed in the Target parking lot. Damage was valued at $300.

  • Hudson Ford employees discovered a mini Maglite case containing methamphetamine and small bags in the back of a Hudson Police squad car.

May 22, 2012

  • A resident in the 900 block of First Street called police to report that several cars parked on the block had been struck by eggs thrown from a moving vehicle. A separate report was received about a vehicle in the 900 block of Green Street that appeared to be egged in the same manner.
  • The same resident who had his political signs stolen earlier in the week reported that someone had left several scraps of paper all over his front yard where the signs had been located.

May 23, 2012

  • During a routine traffic stop, an officer smelled marijuana and began to question a driver and his passenger when the driver heaved three times and spit up a plastic baggie of marijuana. The passenger had a glass pipe with residue in his possession. The driver was brought to the jail and charged with marijuana possession. He also received city citations for marijuana possession and obedience. The passenger was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
