VIDEO & PHOTOS: Fire Department Burns Down House in Training Exercise

About 35 firefighters and rescue personnel took part in interior fire suppression, and search and rescue training at 765 Carmichael Road on Monday night.

A warm, orange glow lit up the night along Carmichael Road on Monday as more than 35 firefighters from participated in a training exercise.

"We were able to do three separate fires for interior suppression, and search and rescue," said Hudson Fire Chief Jim Frye. "That kind of training is invaluable to us. It's hard to get a structure to simulate the conditions that you'd normally run into."

Frye said the structure at 765 Carmichael Rd. was now owned by Ron Gagnon, president of , but a few members of the Heffron family watched from a nearby safe area as the house burned down. Bill Heffron, his son Shawn and his daughter Jenny were among the crowd watching. The family lived in the home from December 2000 to Aug. 1, 2011.

All three seemed happy to see the house being destroyed. Shawn recalled several problems with the house over the years while Bill just laughed and said, "It was a hole."
