Wisconsin Teacher Retirements Double Since Collective Bargaining Limits Passed
The Associated Press reports that teacher retirements in Wisconsin have doubled since Gov. Scott Walker's controversial budget repair bill was enacted. Hudson had 14 teachers retire this year.

The Associated Press is reporting that teacher retirements have doubled in Wisconsin this year, the first in which many state employees have collective bargaining heavily limited under Gov. Scott Walker's budget repair measures.
In Hudson School District, 14 teachers retired in 2010-2011 out of 385 total teachers. The number of retirements is up from eight in 2009-2010, according to Tracy Habisch-Ahlin, communications specialist for the district.
Habisch-Ahlin said that the number of retirements varies from year to year mostly dependent on whether the teachers entered the district in a heavy hiring year. She also said that the district has teachers who reached eligible retirement age last year, but chose to continue teaching this year.
