• Schmidt granted expedited discovery in defamation suit (gazettextra.com) — Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt, based in Juneau, has won court approval for expedited discovery in his defamation lawsuit over claims someone was detained and taken to Dodge County Jail. The judge is allowing access to limited phone records and hotel surveillance to quickly determine whether the alleged detention in the Juneau area actually occurred, with no hearings yet scheduled.
