- The Dane County Sheriff's Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred at a Madison park-and-ride on Thursday. In an update released on Thursday afternoon, a spokesperson for the Madison Police Department stated that none of its officers fired their weapons in the confrontation, which occurred around 8:20 a.m. at the Eastpark facility. Officials say they were attempting to take a 38-year-old suspect into custody at the time of the incident. (WMTV - NBC15)
- Student organizations at the University of Wisconsin will host Lunar New Year celebrations this month for the first time in two years. Campus organizations including the Vietnamese Student Association canceled in-person celebrations in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This Lunar New Year marks the beginning of The Year of the Tiger, which started on Feb. 1. (The Badger Herald)
- Police are investigating the death of a nine-month-old baby that occurred on the city's west side earlier this week. Officers responded to reports of an injured child at an apartment building on Tree Lane around 7:40 p.m. Monday, but the child did not survive. An autopsy has been scheduled for later this week, according to investigators. (WMTV - NBC15)
