The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Madison.

Hello, people of Madison! It's me again, Sean Peek, your host of the Madison Daily.

First, today's weather:

Colder with some sun. High: 29 Low: 27.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Madison:

  1. The Madison Common Council has voted to delay a decision regarding a one-year pilot program that would provide body cameras for Madison Police Department officers. The proposal will be referred to the council at a later date in order to comply with an ordinance that requires a public hearing process for the implementation of surveillance technology. The council is now scheduled to hear the proposal on Apr. 19. (UW Badger Herald)
  2. UW Health will now require COVID-19 booster shots for all staff, providers, students, and volunteers. According to a news release from the healthcare provider released on Wednesday, roughly 96 percent of UW Health employees are currently vaccinated against COVID-19. The new booster requirement will go into effect on May 2. (WKOW)
  3. A Fitchburg man was arrested by University of Wisconsin police on Wednesday morning following an alleged hit-and-run. Officers say the 35-year-old suspect was driving the wrong way on a one-way street when he allegedly drove away from police and crashed at Campus Drive and Babcock Drive before fleeing the scene on foot. The suspect faces multiple charges, including first-degree reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and violating probation. (Channel3000.com - WISC-TV3)
