1. Manitowoc Police Department reminds the public of the enacted mini-bike city ordinance (wearegreenbay.com) — Manitowoc police are reminding residents that mini-bikes, including many small gas or electric bikes without pedals, are not allowed on public roads, bike paths, or sidewalks under a city ordinance passed in late 2025. Officers say they’ll focus on education but warn repeat violations can bring $83.60 citations, so riders should double-check whether their bikes qualify as mini-bikes before heading out this summer.

Federal court takes up Manitowoc lawsuit for environmental damage by former Mirro plant (wbay.com) — The City of Manitowoc’s lawsuit over environmental contamination at the former Mirro plant has been moved from county court to federal court in Green Bay. City officials are seeking to recover cleanup costs tied to decades of industrial use as they prepare the site for a 59‑unit apartment project aimed at adding more affordable housing in Manitowoc.

GoFundMe started after Manitowoc family displaced by house fire (htrnews.com) — A Manitowoc mother, her three children and their dog are rebuilding after a May 9 house fire destroyed their garage, shed, decks and badly damaged their home. A GoFundMe has raised a small portion of its goal so far as the family navigates insurance delays and urgent basic needs.

4. Wisconsin Maritime Museum plans new Manitowoc heritage center (nbc26.com) — Downtown Manitowoc could see a major boost as the Wisconsin Maritime Museum pursues nearly $1 million in state funding to turn a former car dealership into the new Wisconsin Maritime Heritage Center. The multi-phase, $3–$4 million project would expand storage for more than 20,000 artifacts, add public interaction spaces, and create a heritage garden and USS Rasher memorial. If approved, the center could be finished by late 2027.
