With winter costs straining the highway budget and equipment prices soaring, supervisors must soon decide which projects move ahead, which get delayed, and how much new debt local taxpayers should shoulder. 
• Multiple fires keep Marinette County fire departments busy over weekend (dailydispatch.com) — Fire crews from Marinette County departments tackled a deadly house fire in the Town of Grover and a large brush pile fire near Peshtigo over the weekend, with no people injured but one pet lost. After using thousands of gallons of water and heavy equipment to contain the brush fire, the DNR is urging residents across northeast Wisconsin, including Marinette-area homeowners, to be extra cautious with fire pits during current high fire danger.
• Mother Nature throws wet blanket on area softball games (gazettextra.com) — Marinette softball fans should know Denmark leads the Marines 12–1 in a game suspended in the third inning that will resume Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Marinette.
