Alden Employee Earns Nursing Scholarship

Kelly Keller of Lake Mills is one of three recipients of the George F. MacKenzie Scholarhip awarded by the Wisconsin Health Care Association (WHCA) and the Wisconsin Center for Assisted Living (WiCAL).

Kelly received a $500 scholarship to pursue a registered nurse (RN) degree. She is working as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) at Alden Estates of Jefferson in Jefferson while taking nursing classes at Madison Area Technical College.

"WHCA/WiCAL is pleased to announce the 2012 recipients of the George F. MacKenzie Scholarship Program," said WHCA's Executive Director Tom Moore. "Each of these individuals has demonstrated personal and professional commitment to the field of long-term care, and dedication to the importance of continuing education."

Kelly applied for the scholarship earlier this year and was thrilled to receive the news that she had been selected.

"This scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for me to be able to advance my education and pursue my dream career," she said.

The MacKenzie scholarship is named for the late George F. MacKenzie, a former WHCA Executive Director, WHCA president and former Administrator of the Wisconsin Division of Health, in honor of his nearly 50 years of dedication to Wisconsin's long-term care community.
