Fundraiser for Never Alone sexual assault advocacy project set for Feb. 18th at Art Bar

A fund-raiser for the Never Alone sexual assault advocacy project in Milwaukee will take place Saturday Feb. 18that Art Bar, 722 E. Burleigh St., from 6 to 9 p.m. The event is being hosted by the Sexual Assault Treatment Center of Aurora Health Care, The Healing Center, the UMOS Latina Resource Center and Pathfinders.

The event will feature music, a local art sale, 50/50 raffle and food along with presentations by state Sen. Lena Taylor and state Rep. Sandy Pasch.

Never Alone is an emerging sexual violence advocacy project designed to increase the number of advocates available to support survivors of sexual assault through the processes of medical examinations and reporting to law enforcement. It will also introduce survivors to counseling and other healing services in the community.

 “Never Alone is truly a community effort – collaborating agencies and community members are all working to create advocacy services so that survivors of sexual assault are no longer walking the path alone when they most need support and information,” said Melinda Hughes, program director of The Healing Center.
