KOHL’S CARES® PARTNERS WITH CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF WISCONSIN TO LAUNCH HOME SAFETY APP

Kohl’s Cares^®, in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, has launched a new mobile application for Apple and Android devices, dedicated to educating parents and children about the five leading safety risks found inside and outside the home including falls, poisoning, fire and burns, choking and suffocation and drowning. This is the first mobile app affiliated with Children’s Hospital.

The free app was developed in conjunction with Kohl’s Cares^®: The Great Safety Adventure^®, a mobile health education unit currently touring the state and designed to help reduce the number of childhood injuries at home. The 17-week tour is making more than 50 stops throughout Wisconsin in 2012.

The app features home safety games for children of all ages, home safety quizzes for parents, and a full list of all Kohl’s Cares: The Great Safety Adventure tour stops. Parents and caregivers who complete home safety quizzes available online at CodeRedRover.org/KohlsCares or through the app will be entered to win a family trip for four to Wisconsin Dells, Wis.

Parents and caregivers can download the new app for free at CodeRedRover.org/KohlsCares. The app is available for download on iPad, iPhone and second and third generation Android phones.

According to Safe Kids USA, injury is the leading cause of death in children ages 1 to 14 in Wisconsin and the United States. CodeRedRover.org/KohlsCares and the app available through the site helps provide life-saving information about home safety.

“It’s our goal to reduce the number of accidental injuries among children in eastern Wisconsin,” said Bridget Clementi, director of community health, Children’s Hospital. “This app helps engage the whole family and educate them about home safety in a fun and creative way.”

Since 2000, Kohl’s has donated more than $6.7 million to Children’s Hospital to support youth health and education programming.
