Menomonee Falls Area Residents Perform in Miss Saigon – School Edition at Pius XI High School’s New Performing Arts Center

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (November 6, 2012) – Menomonee Falls area residents Cassie-Stecker-Janssen, Gabriella Klotz, Sam Dedecker and Katie Nguyen will be performing in Pius XI High School’s production of “Miss Saigon – School Edition” November 9-11 and November 16-18. This is the school’s first major production in the new Robert V. Carney Performing Arts Center and the Wendy Joy Lindsey Theater.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these students to be a part of the first group to perform a large scale musical in the new performing arts center,” said Bonnie Scholz, chair of the Performing Arts Department at Pius XI High School. “We invite residents to come support these performers as well as experience the new theater.”

“Miss Saigon – School Edition” tells the tragic love story of an American soldier and a Vietnamese girl during the turmoil of the Vietnam War. Separated during the fall of Saigon, this Tony Award winning show tells the tale of the couple’s struggle to find each other over the ensuing years, which end in tragedy for the young girl and gives a fighting chance for the child the soldier never knew he had.

“We chose to open our new performing arts center with this masterpiece because of the story’s power and beauty,” said Kevin Schwartz, theater teacher at Pius XI High School and director of the show. “This musical will showcase the capabilities of both our new theater as well as our talented students.”

The show will be hosted in the brand new performing arts center located on the Pius XI campus. The new center incorporates the 500-seat Wendy Joy Lindsey Theater. The theater is equipped with an E-Coustic sound system. This state-of-the-art system has the ability to change the acoustic or "ring" of the theater and is found in only a few auditoriums in the country. The large orchestra pit is also on the forefront of performance spaces with its newly equipped sound, video and internet capabilities.
