Winter Weather Safety

Children are smaller than adults and loose body heat more rapidly and will suffer cold-related injuries sooner than adults do. 

Avoid being outside in the coldest part of the day, or for extended periods of time in extreme cold weather.

Wear waterproof, insulated

Drink warm caffeine-free, non-alcoholic fluids to keep from becoming dehydrated

Get out of wet clothes immediately

Symptoms of hypothermia that can be a serious medical condition: confusion, dizziness, exhaustion and severe shivering. Seek medical attention immediately

Frostbite warning signs: gray, white or yellow skin discoloration, numbness, waxy feeling skin. Seek medical attention immediately
