Ten Southeastern Wisconsin community leaders are in the home stretch of their 10 week-long competition for the title of LLS Man & Woman of the Year. This honor includes a Grand Finale Gala in honor of the candidates, recognition throughout the region, a full-page advertisement featured in USA Today, and the satisfaction that their commitment to finding cures will help families with blood cancer.

The money raised in the 2012, 10 week long Milwaukee Man & Women of the Year competition will be used by LLS to fund research-seeking cures and better therapies, and to provide information and support for patients and families; allowing them to have the best possible outcomes throughout their cancer experience. Those benefiting from this campaign include this year’s Boy and Girl of the Year (Caden and Emma). These young adults and their families have survived lymphoma and leukemia and are a source of inspiration to the competitors as well as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society family as a whole.

The Milwaukee region candidates have raised funds over the past 7 weeks and will continue to do so for the rest of the competition by sponsoring fun events such as family bowling and ping pong competitions, golf outings, wine tastings, home events, adult lemonade stands, Milwaukee Brewers tailgates, and many others. They are also soliciting silent auction event contributions for the gala to raise money for LLS. To attend or sponsor any of these events, go to www.mwoy.org/wi

Every dollar of these events counts as one "vote" for the individual who raised the money as Man or Woman of the Year. The male and female candidates with the most votes (funds raised) will be granted the title of 2012 Man & Woman of the Year at the Grand Finale Gala to be held Friday, June 8th at the Pfister Hotel. The winners are then eligible to be honored as LLS National Man & Woman of the Year.
