Here's a little bit more about Megan in her own words.
Why did you decide to sign up for the DYW Program?
I decided to sign up for the Distinguished Young Women Program because, in all honesty, it looked like a fun incentive to get out, try something new, and meet inspiring young ladies. Becoming a part of this program seemed like an ideal way to get out and help the community as well as discover and showcase my best self. I ultimately knew I could take a lot away from this program!
What or who encouraged or motivated you to participate in the DYW Program?
Last year, for soccer, we went to the community Optimist Club meeting because we were honored for our record and because we held first place in state and twentieth in the nation. During this meeting, one of the members of the optimist club briefly mentioned the Distinguished Young Women Program and coach Stein thought I would be a good applicant. This was the first time I have heard of this program and became very interested.
What do you hope to get out of the program?
This program offers so many opportunities, and I am grateful to be a participant. Throughout my time with Distinguished Young Women Program I hope to blossom into my best self as well as become more involved in the community and helping others. Additionally, I aspire to meet inspiring young ladies and hopefully become a role model for other girls.
What is something you would like people to know about you?
I am a 16 year old athlete. I have a passion for soccer, and last year played on varsity. I was also a newcomer this past year to the high school varsity cross country team. I am a dedicated junior that strives to always do my best. My dream job is to pursue a career in the medical field. I am highly interested in pharmacy, becoming a doctor, or a pathologist. I come from a very close knit family, one sister and one brother, a mom and dad, and a dog.
On behalf of the DYW Committee, we are so excited that the recruiting efforts of our committee member, John Seymour, continue to pay off. Welcome Megan and we hope you enjoy your experience.
