Optimist Club Sponsors Oratorical Contest and Tri-Star Basketball Contest
Optimist Club Annual Oratorical Contest and Tri-Star Basketball Contest are coming up soon.

It's that time of year when the Optimist Club of Menomonee Falls Sponsors its annual Oratorical Contest and Tri-Star Basketball Contest. Below is a little more information on both.
March 21 is the date for the annual Oratorical Contest. The topic this year is “How my Optimism Helps me Overcome Obstacles”. The contest will take place at North Middle School and is open to any student attending school in Menomonee Falls and under the age of 16 as of Dec. 31, 2011 (no minimum age applies). Student prepare a speech 4 to 5 minutes in length on the topic indicated above.
Participants in the club contest can win cash awards and also have the opportunity to win scholarships at the state contest. Deadline to submit application for participation is March 15, 2012. Saturday, March 24 is the date for the annual Tri-Star Basketball Contest. This is a fun and free event for Boys and Girls ages 6 to 13.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Menomonee Falls High School Gym. Each participant will be evaluated individually within his/her age and gender group based on the three basic skill tests, which are passing, dribbling, and shooting.

Your child may register and participate any time between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and is not required to stay the entire time. Participants need to be supervised by an adult and may not be dropped off and picked up at a later time. Everyone is a winner, and special prizes will be presented to the top three scorers in each group.
First place contestants, in each group ages 8 to 13, will also be given the opportunity to participate in the Wisconsin District Contest on Saturday, April 14 at Mukwonago High School. Entry forms will be available at the gym on the contest day. Bring your own ball if you want to practice or warm up before the competition.
