Brookfield Village Farmers Market celebrates success in second month of operation

Thursday afternoon market draws crowds with variety of high quality products

 

The Brookfield Village Farmers Market is entering its second month of operation, building on a very successful first 30 days of operation. The Farmers Market is held just east of Brookfield Road on Pleasant Street in Brookfield Village, located in the City of Brookfield, Wis. The market is open every Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The market has a group of quality vendors featuring five produce farms with a variety of vegetables and fruits, as well as cheeses, bakery, flowers, farm fresh eggs, meats and wellness products. And there are more vendors serving pizza, hot dogs, Italian sausages, popcorn and lemonade. Musical entertainment each week features talented local musicians.

Dawn Farina Condon, organizer of the market, said, “Thank you to everyone who came to the market in our first month – we’re overwhelmed by the support we have received I am amazed at the variety of high quality products at the market, and I’d like to thank the vendors selling at our market for their hard work and their wonderful products. And, all people who shop the market on Thursday, July 11th will receive our green Village Market bag, free!”

  - Wild Flour Bakery, Milwaukee, WI – breads, muffins, cookies, brittle, granola

  - Krokowski Farms, Eagle, WI – melons, herbs, flowers, vegetables

  - Amitaba Gardens, Whitewater, WI – produce and flowers

  - Morning Star Family Farm, Hartford, WI – organically grown fruits and vegetables, cut flowers, meats, organic-fed eggs, hens, chickens, pork, lamb, grass-fed beef

  - Xou Xiong Produce, Menomonee Falls, WI – produce including strawberries and raspberries

  - Kong & Pang Yang – produce including strawberries

  - May Xiong – variety of produce

  - Lester Bison Farm, Salem, WI – bison products, high-end pork, free-range chicken, smoked turkey, rainbow eggs, salsa, organic cheeses

  - Decatur Dairy Farm, Brodhead, WI – specialty cheeses, curds, butter

  - Alpine Herbals, Brookfield, WI – herbal salves, essential oils, natural insect repellent, herbal soaps, body butter

  - Tail’red Baskets, Brookfield, WI – customized gift baskets for pets containing safe, durable toys and nutritious treats

  - Flying Cow Pizza, Oconomowoc, WI – wood-fired pizzas and salads

  - Vinny Sausage Company, Brookfield, WI – Italian sausage

  - Culinary Twists, Pewaukee, WI – gourmet hot dogs and brats

 

Live musical entertainment is presented by different artists each week. Scheduled throughout the season are:

  - Alex Siy – acoustic finger-style guitar

  - Gillmore Family Music Team – nine children ages five to 19 play violins, cello and viola, trumpet and piano.

  - Jamie Jean – acoustic guitar, singer/song writer, Nashville student

  - Clete Kramer – country and folk music

  - Fellowship of the Strings – seven to nine young men from Wauwatosa Whitman Middle and Tosa West High play a mix of Irish and American fiddle tunes and small ensemble pieces.

  - Brookfield Dance Academy – dance performances

  - Mozart’s Gym – musical performances

  - MLS EduCare – angelic voices

 

Brookfield Village Ltd. is a nonprofit entity dedicated to promoting the Brookfield Village as a center of community activity in Brookfield, and a great place for specialty retail and service businesses. Brookfield Village Ltd. worked with local artist Gordon Gohr to create a distinctive logo for the Village. Future plans include an historic walking tour of the Village.

 

The Brookfield Village Ltd. group meets the first Wednesday of each month. All activities are based on volunteer time and efforts. Dawn Farina, a local resident and artist, has been chairing the meetings and can be contacted at 262-327-1020. The group also has a Facebook page, at Brookfield Village, Ltd.
