Butler Man Gives Light Pole The Ax
A Butler man is spotted by a DOT traffic camera cutting apart the light pole Sunday afternoon and is later arrested when he returns to the scene. The metal shavings in the back of his truck gave him away to police.
A Butler man is facing charges after he allegedly cut apart and stole a downed light pole at the onramp for southbound Highway 45 at West Silver Spring Drive Sunday afternoon.
Guy Roy Tengel, 47, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of theft and one count of criminal damage to property. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison and $20,000 in fines.

At 4:38 p.m. Sunday, Milwaukee County sheriff’s deputies were called to the onramp after Tengel was spotted cutting apart the light pole. The incident was caught on a Wisconsin Department of Transportation traffic camera in the area and Tengel was identified by the license plates on his truck. The pole is valued at $5,043.
Tengel later returned to the location and was pulled over. The inside of the back of his truck was full of metal shavings.

He’s currently free on a $500 signature bond while awaiting trial.
