Menomonee Falls, Wis. — Bi-County 8-44, part of Special Olympics Wisconsin, is creating opportunities for athletes of all abilities to compete, grow, and belong—and is inviting the community to be part of it.
Serving more than 80 athletes ages 8 and older with cognitive disabilities, the program offers year-round sports at no cost to families. Through donations, sponsorships, and grants, Bi-County ensures every athlete has access, regardless of financial situation.
“At Bi-County, our goal is simple—we want every individual with a cognitive disability to know they have a place here,” organizers shared.
Athletes participate in multiple sports throughout the year, building confidence, friendships, and life skills. A key part of the program is Unified Sports, where athletes with and without disabilities compete together—promoting inclusion, teamwork, and meaningful connections.
Bi-County is also exploring interest in a Youth Program for children ages 2–10, designed to introduce basic motor skills, movement, and social interaction in a fun, supportive environment. This program helps young children begin building confidence and connections at an early age.
Beyond sports, Bi-County 8-44 provides a strong sense of community where families can connect, share experiences, and support one another.
The organization is seeking volunteers and is also looking to partner with local school districts and community groups to expand inclusive opportunities and make Special Olympics a visible part of everyday community life.
Bi-County 8-44 wants the community to know: there is a place for everyone—athletes, families, students, educators, and volunteers alike.
