In the wake of the horrible shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, and Aurora, Colorado, mental illness has been highlighted in the media. About 26% of adults and 13% of children in the U.S. today struggle with mental illness. It can affect anyone at any time in their lives.
Now you can learn more about mental illness via In Our Own Voice, a free presentation developed by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). In Our Own Voice will be offered at UU Church West on Wednesday, May 22 at 7:00p.m.
During In Our Own Voice two seasoned presenters will share compelling personal stories about living with mental illness and achieving recovery. The presenters have worked with police and fire departments, mental health groups, and the Medical College of Wisconsin, among others.
