• Middleton High School student honored with Volunteer of the Year Award (wmtv15news.com) — A Middleton High School junior, Sophia Chen, has been named Volunteer of the Year in the Governor’s Service Awards for her nonprofit helping first-generation students nationwide. Chen’s Youth4Youth program coordinates about 20 student tutors supporting more than 400 learners in seven states, and she’ll be honored June 24 at Olbrich Botanical Gardens. She previously shared a Governor’s Financial Literacy Award for work with Dane County middle schoolers.
   

• Dane County Executive Melissa Agard celebrates one year of Dane County's food scrap collection program (wmtv15news.com) — Middleton residents can use Dane County’s free Scrap Stops sites, including city-sponsored locations, to drop off food scraps for composting around the clock. The year‑old program has already diverted 610,000 pounds of food waste and cut significant carbon emissions, turning scraps into nutrient-rich compost that supports local soils and agriculture. Accepted items are simple kitchen leftovers like produce, coffee grounds, and eggshells.
   

• Five from Baseball named to Academic All-District Team (edgewoodeagles.com) — Middleton resident and Edgewood University infielder Hayden Hellenbrand has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, pairing a .315 batting average with a 3.97 GPA in accounting. He’s one of five Eagles baseball players honored for excelling both on the field and in the classroom during the 2026 season.
