Crash Victims Identified In Fatal I-794 Crash: Sheriff

MILWAUKEE, WI — Thanksgiving weekend travel got off to a tragic start early Friday after police said two people died following a crash on Interstate 794.

On Saturday, Milwaukee police identified the crash victims as Tony Terrell Covington, 33, of Fitchburg, and Carlos Wilson, 29, of Madison. According to officials, the crash took place just after 2 a.m. at the off-ramp of eastbound I-794. Officials said the vehicle that Covington and Wilson were driving careened off the off-ramp and struck a concrete freeway pillar.

According to a WISN12 report, police and rescue responded to an area underneath I-794 in Downtown Milwaukee just after 2 a.m. Friday on a report that of a vehicle severely damaged with its occupants trapped inside.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner responded to the scene and determined that the two people inside died as a result of their injuries sustained in the crash.

A FOX6 report from the scene Friday indicated that the vehicle careened off a ramp and into a concrete pillar near Van Buren Street.
